Well I just realized my dream of owning my retired neighbor's 870 with 350 hours , practically as new. This fellow is fanatical about cleaning and maintenance. The only real work it's seen is cutting a hay field a few times a year with a rotary cutter. I need to quickly set it up for mowing, as I sold my 770, 900 hours with mmm, and the grass is growing. I just received by UPS a mid PTO
kit to be installed this weekend , I hope. I have to thank this board for helping me locate that (see my posts under DonaldC, my work computer)To get to the point, does anyone know where I can find a used 72 inch deck for this machine? I can possibly use a deck from the 55 series machines, as I have a line on the brackets necessary to mount to the 70 series. Any advice would also be appreciated. Don

If you are still looking for a belly mower I have one for sale. I also have a JD 870 with a mid mount mower that I no longer have a need for. My tractor has 220 hours and I would estimate the mower deck only has about 75 hours of use. It is is perfect condition (always shedded) and would come with all the brackets needed for mounting to your tractor. I am trying to replace the mower with a 3 point shredder mower and the JD dealer isn't willing to take the mower deck in trade. I live in Nebraska. Hi, just got back to my computer. I need to upgrade my membership, so I didn't see all of your post. Where were you guys last fall when I posted? I now have a set up on my tractor, but had to weld cracks, replace bearings . etc. Please respond to doncan1500, provider is earthlink.net How much do you want for the setup?
At this point, I don't think my better half will stand for any more investment in mowing.
